Happy Daddy Day!!!

Happy First Daddy Day Matt :)

I have always known that Matt was great with kids and since the very beginning of our relationship we knew that becoming parents was something very important to us. Before we had Randal I always loved watching Matt interact with the kids I babysat or my little cousins. Kids are just drawn to him and he eats it up. From previous observations I knew he would be good with Randal but at the same time I sometimes thought...what will Matt Bork do with a daughter??? Its no secret the Bork family is a boys club so he really hasn't had much experience with little girls. Although his upbringing was completely void of pink, purple, and polka dots Matt is totally in to having a daughter. To illustrate my point let me share a conversation Matt and I had the other weekend while preparing to go to a friends wedding. To set the stage...Randal was wearing a pink dress with a white headband.

Matt: Why is she wearing a white headband?
Me: It was the closest...
Matt: Don't you think she should be wearing the pink headband?
Me: Sure, its in the diaper bag. Go get it.
Matt gets the headband and takes it over to Randal Jean
Matt: Nope, not the right pink. Lets stay with the white headband
Me: White it is Daddy :)

I'm sure Matt thought nothing of this exchange but I thought it perfectly illustrated just how much he dotes on his little girl.

If any of you have been lucky enough to witness Matt interact with Randal Jean you will agree he acts like an "old pro"....carrying her like a football, changing dirty diapers (cloth no less) without hesitation, and doing what ever it takes to make his little girl happy.

I could really go on and on about how great of a father Matt is but all my gushing would probably get redundant so lets just say Randal Jean is the luckiest girl in the world to have such a great daddy.

Here are some recent pics of Randal with her daddy:

I would also like to say Happy Father's Day to my daddy and my Father in Law :)

Dad- You're the best!!! I have been so lucky to have a daddy like you and Randal Jean is so lucky to have a granddad like you. I love watching you interact with her and it makes me even that much more appreciative that I am able to call you daddy. My culinary skills, palate, and taste in music would be nothing with out you :)

Randy B- Thanks for everything you taught Matt about being a husband and father. I think you have been far more of an example to him than he will ever let on and I thank you for that.

Wedding Fun

We went to our friends', Mike and Victoria's, wedding yesterday. The ceremony was in St. Mary's Catholic church downtown. The church was beautiful and so was the service...or atleast what I heard of it. Randal decided she would start to get cranky right before the bridal party entered so I headed out of the church with her. I tried to watch the wedding from behind closed doors but she really just wanted to be outside. After a while she didnt even like being held outside because it was too hot with her right against me so I went and got the stroller and walked her around until she fell asleep. After the ceremony we went to The Balcony for the reception. Randal did so well at the reception and allowed us (or I should say me since Matt hung around after I left) to spend time with friends for 4 hrs!!! She has always been good when we take her out but I was still surprised by the length of time we were able to stay there with a happy baby. She really wasnt being cranky when we left but there was no where to feed her so I chose to just bring her on home to feed.

It was so nice to see our friends. I have enjoyed getting to see how our friends react to Randal. Matt and I are one of the first in our group of friends to have a baby so Randal has ended up with plenty of play Aunts and Uncles that love her to pieces.

Randal passed out in the stroller outside during the wedding First dance!...and the only picture we managed to get of the bride and groom Our little family Pretty baby :) The girls The boys

Fun in the Sun!

Randal loves being outside. Whenever she is upset we can usually take her outside to make her happy and if being outside doesnt make her happy it usually means she is just plain tired! Since her first trip to the beach a couple months ago we have taken her to Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach. She has done really well at the beach and I look forward to when she is able to sit and play in the sand. When we are at home I will get in the baby pool with her or set up the tent outside and take her toys outside to play. Summer is going to be so much fun with a little one :)

The next three pics are from Carolina Beach over Memorial Day weekend Taking a nap with the sounds of the ocean in the background Baby station in the back of "Uncle" Charles' car

Wrightsville Beach with Mommy and Nana (first time her toes touched the ocean)

In the pool with mommy....you can't tell but I promise we're in the pool :)

3 months!

I can't believe Randal is 3 months old!!! I feel like I am constantly saying "I can't believe...." but really time flies after you have a kid. She is starting to "talk" alot, has discovered her feet, loves to stand, and is full of the most precious baby smiles you've ever seen....which its really hard to get a picture of because she concentrates so hard on the camera every time its out :)

I have gone back to work (boo!!!!..I liked staying at home with my precious angel WAY more!) so my mom (Nana) keeps Randal M-Th and Matt keeps her on Fri. We are so lucky to have my mom keeping her while we are at work. Having my mom at home with Randal has made going back to work as easy as possible (doesnt mean I like it though). Randal is on a 3-4 hr cycle of eat, play, sleep during the day and gets in 9-10 hrs of uninterrupted sleep at night. She is an absolute pleasure and somehow my love for her compounds everyday.
